Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Jeev ("we", "our", or "us") is an animal rescue and adoption platform operated by UdgamAI (contact: contact@udgamai.com), based in India. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Jeev mobile application and website (jeevrescue.online), how we use it, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

By using Jeev you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

a) Phone number — collected when you sign in via OTP. Used solely for authentication through Firebase Authentication.

b) Precise location (GPS) — collected when you report an incident, browse the rescue map, or list an animal for adoption. Location is attached to the specific content you create and is visible to other signed-in users. We do not track your location in the background.

c) Photos and videos — uploaded by you when reporting an incident or creating an adoption listing. Stored securely in Firebase Storage and linked to your content.

d) Push notification token (FCM) — a device identifier issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can deliver alerts about incidents and adoption interest near you. Not shared with third parties for marketing.

e) User-generated content — incident reports, adoption listings, comments, resource suggestions, and your public profile (display name, avatar, rescue statistics). This content is visible to other users of Jeev.

f) Usage data — anonymised crash reports and performance metrics collected through Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to help us fix bugs and improve the app. This data does not personally identify you.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and maintain your account.
• To display your incident reports and adoption listings on the map and in feeds.
• To notify nearby users and responders about open incidents.
• To notify listers when someone expresses interest in adopting their animal.
• To calculate your XP score and leaderboard position based on your activity.
• To investigate misuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the platform safe.
• To send you service-related communications (e.g. policy changes).
• To analyse aggregated, anonymised usage trends and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

4. Sharing of Information

Content you post (incident reports, adoption listings, comments, profile) is visible to all signed-in users of Jeev. Your contact phone number is only shared with another user when you explicitly list an animal for adoption and that user expresses interest — or when you respond to an adoption and the lister reveals their contact to you.

We share data with the following service providers solely to operate Jeev:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, FCM, Analytics, Crashlytics) — Firebase Privacy Policy applies.
• Google Maps Platform — location data is passed to render the in-app map.

We may disclose information if required by Indian law, a court order, or to protect the safety of users or animals.

5. Data Retention

Your account and associated content are retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account at any time — see our Delete Your Account page. Verified requests permanently delete your personal information and content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.

6. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Erasure of your personal data (right to be forgotten).
• Withdraw consent at any time (which may affect your ability to use certain features).
• Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf.
• Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

7. Children's Privacy

Jeev is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures including Firebase Security Rules, encrypted data-in-transit (TLS), and restricted service-account access to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions proportionate to the sensitivity of the data.

9. Third-Party Links

The app may display links to external websites (e.g. veterinary clinics). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and recommend reviewing their policies before sharing any information with them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice or push notification at least 7 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Jeev after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
